The PKKBN (State Defense Orientation) for new students in the Department of Management took place at the UPN Veteran Yogyakarta Auditorium on August 12, 2026. The event was attended by 684 new students and 51 department faculty members, including Prof. Dr. M. Irhas Effendi, M.Si., an academician in the department who also serves as the Rector of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta. This year’s PKKBN in the Department of Management was particularly special, as it was also attended by the department's partner institution, MSU Malaysia. Since 2025, the Department of Management has obtained permission from the Ministry of Higher Education to offer degree-granting programs with MSU for both undergraduate and master's degree levels. A representative from the International Office of MSU, Mr. Ahmad Pitra Jumli, Ph.D., delivered a socialization session regarding the joint degree program to the new management students. In his presentation, Mr. Pitra explained that the Joint Degree Program is a strategic initiative spearheaded by Dr. Titik Kusmantini, S.E., M.Si., Head of the Department of Management at UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, following a exploration process and curriculum-matching phase that took nearly a year. MSU deeply appreciates the department head’s role as the primary driving force behind the realization of this international collaboration. Responding to this significant milestone, Dr. Titik Kusmantini stated that implementing this joint degree program demonstrates the institution's concrete commitment to fulfilling the study program's vision. The study program is determined to become a modern, leading entity in executing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) rooted in state defense, while actively competing on the global stage by 2030. This internationalization effort is designed to produce globally competitive graduates without abandoning their national identity.

Beyond the socialization session for new undergraduate management students, the agenda for MSU's visit to FEB UPN Veteran Yogyakarta also included follow-up coordination regarding the implementation of Batch 1 of the joint degree program at the master's level. Dr. Nilmawati, S.E., M.Si., serving as the person-in-charge (PIC) of the joint degree program in the Master of Management, announced that the joint degree program between the Master of Management (MM) UPN Veteran Yogyakarta and Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia officially marked a new milestone with the send-off of a student named Nur Harthanila (MSU Student ID: 012025092620) as an active participant in this cross-border program. Furthermore, the internationalization PIC reported to the Dean of FEB (Faculty of Economics and Business) that from September 5–9, 2026, the department administrators alongside the internationalization team will accompany the student to MSU to begin her year-long study abroad. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Januar Eko Prasetio, S.E., M.Si., Akt., stated his readiness to oversee and monitor the student’s academic progress, emphasizing that this achievement serves as tangible proof of the academic synergy built between both higher education institutions. The Dean also expressed his hope that this joint degree program will open wide pathways for future cohorts to participate in dual-degree schemes and expand their professional networks internationally.
